Welcome to Christ Church, Londonderry.
Christ Church was built by the then Bishop of Derry as a " free " church i.e. any person was welcome to attend even if they couldn't afford to pay the usual pew rents. That was over 175 years ago but that sense that Christ Church is free to be different gladly still exists.
This is a church where those that belong value relationships in all their richness - person-to-person, but more especially person-to-God.
This love of and for all humanity colours all that we strive to do and be. Situated in the shadow of St. Eugene's Cathedral we are like Dr. Who's Tardis, seemingly small on the exterior but so much larger when you enter. All who worship here have space to grow spiritually without encountering the theology of fear.
As the population on the City-side has changed dramatically since 1970 so has our mission. We are now recognised as one of the leading Classical music venues in the North-West and are a major supporter of young talent at the Magee Campus of the University of Ulster through our Choral and Organ bursaries.
The worship of Almighty God though in all its diversity and richness was, is and will continue to be our prime task. As a visitor you will be greeted warmly and may you leave as a friend.
From 1st September 2007 Christ Church is part of the new parish grouping of Christ Church, Culmore, Muff and St Peter’s.
